Rest-Rock-Regulate

4o4za__

Rest – rock – regulate started with my own legs-shaking in cinemas, classrooms, especially at home. Always moving. Always being told to stop. But what if, instead of telling people to sit still, we designed for that movement.
This project is a modular sensory kit that reframes stimming, those consistently intense movements used to self-soothe, focus or release energy, which is a form of bodily regulation.
It includes attachable rockers that fit standard chairs, an incomplete weave for busy fingers to continue, and a squishy cushion for tactility and grounding pressure. Each part is portable, adjustable, and built for real spaces — so people who stim can do so comfortably.
Most stim tools are made for kids: bright colours and plasticy, sticking out like a sore thumb. This kit ‘debabyfies’ sensory support. It brings tactility into grown spaces to respect and normalise movement.
Rocking is only ever accepted when it’s attached to a chair. Remove the chair away, and in any other context, suddenly it’s ‘too much’. Why stop the movement, when it’s time to make space for it.
Because stimming IS a language
and it deserves to be designed for.
