Techno Tactile Movement
Touch is one of our first and most instinctive languages — a way we learn, connect, and make sense of the world. But in today’s digital age, this essential sense is slowly fading. Textures are disappearing, surfaces are becoming smoother and flatter, and physical interaction is becoming increasingly rare. This raises a vital question: what kind of future are we heading toward if tactility disappears from daily life?
The Techno Tactile Movement is a speculative design response to this shift — exploring ways to preserve and reintroduce tactility in a world drifting toward sensory loss. At its core is Tactile Degeneration Syndrome (TDS), a fictional condition that reflects our growing disconnection from physical sensation.
To counter this, the Techno Tactile Package was created — a sensory toolkit made up of three parts:
Techno Tactile Kit
A collection of 3D-printed objects based on microscope scans, regenerated into amplified tactile forms using diverse materials.
Techno Tactile Archive
An interactive AR publication that reactivates touch through motion, spatial sound, and layered visuals.
Techno Tactile Website
A free public digital library featuring texture scans, 3D models, and displacement maps.
Together, these tools invite reconnection — keeping tactile experience alive in an increasingly digital world.
