Forget-Me-Knot:
A Personal Archive
'Forget-Me-Knot' traces the quiet power of human connection—how the people we meet shape who we become. The vast range of social experiences we share as humans contribute to the richness of personal identity, each connection forming a layer of personality, value and mindset. Using the meditative act of knotting as a metaphor to encompass the diverse ways we are interconnected with others, each knot represents a complex array of dynamics, each defined by its unique features and tendencies. Though rooted in my own experiences, these interpretations invite others to reflect on the ties they carry. In my piece, 'drim-daenggi', I record my own story in the form of a traditional Korean wedding scarf intended to be exchanged between the bride and groom. This object signifies not only a romantic promise of the future but also a promise to those who contributed to the formation of their identity: A token of acknowledgement and gratitude, but also a promise to cherish each precious future connection with the same value. More than just an exercise in remembrance, this project urges us to honour and celebrate the influence of those around us, forming an archive of becoming the self.
