Yù Yí
When you adjust expectations, emotions fade instantly, and then you slowly isolate yourself from the world to protect yourself. When we gradually close the channel for feeling emotions, emotions become indistinct, replaced by day-to-day dullness. This silent transformation is perhaps the saddest. The word “Yù Yī” first appeared in ancient China, it’s a kind of jade-made armour used in ancient funerals to protect the emperor's body and soul from corrosion. Nowadays, we also put on a layer of ‘Yù Yī of emotions’. In this project, let your body take you back to the source of your emotions. Based on the concepts and knowledge of dance healing, I installed a tension-sensing device on my body to activate people's inner emotional fluctuations through movement tension. The tension sensor inside causes the image to change when you make a stretch. External stimuli enliven our stiff bodies and inner feelings.
