Flipper

This furniture piece is designed to create a tidy, welcoming entryway by encouraging guests to remove their outerwear before entering. It subtly promotes cleanliness by guiding people to take off garments that may carry dust, dirt, or pollutants from outside. Using nudge theory, the hook flips back to its original position after each use, always appearing available. This intuitive design makes it easy for guests to locate an empty hook without hesitation. When a jacket is hung, the weight causes the hook to rotate, dropping the garment into a hidden storage compartment below. The self-resetting mechanism not only maintains visual order but also reinforces a thoughtful, habitual routine without conscious effort. By turning a simple action into an engaging and seamless experience, the design helps preserve both cleanliness and organization in the home. It transforms the transitional space of the entryway into a more mindful and efficient environment through small, behavior-shaping cues.
