HERD / HOUSE / NEST
《HERD / HOUSE / NEST》 is a personal project combining film and installation, reflecting on both human and animal family structures through a journey with my father to Mongolia, where he was preparing for an off-road race.
By comparing the layout of family cars and racing vehicles, the project explores family roles, emotional communication, and spatial power dynamics — blending personal experience with cultural reflection.
During the trip, I observed and documented the behaviors and group patterns of Mongolian wild animals — Mongolian gazelles, wild boars, and grey cranes — and reimagined their family structures as alternative “vehicle” formats.
This is not only a film, but a process of re-understanding my own identity and family relationships. It asks:
When we can’t choose our family structure, can we at least begin to rethink the emotional order and ways of communication within it?
