Sesa
Sesa is a service brand that offers a contemporary alternative to Korean ancestral rituals, Jesa. It responds to the emotional needs of those who no longer practice formal ceremonies such as Jesa, but still seek meaningful ways to remember. Rather than a fixed or structured event, Sesa offers a quiet and personal ritual through custom-made objects such as soap, candle, or incense.
Each user is invited to complete a personal form before death. Based on their responses, a single object is created and delivered to a chosen recipient after passing. These objects are designed to disappear with use. They melt, dissolve, or burn away, reflecting how memory gradually fades.
The act of using the object is essential. It is not meant to be kept or displayed. When the object has been entirely used, the person it represents is forgotten. This moment of disappearance marks a gentle and intentional farewell.
Sesa transforms mourning into a tactile and personal experience. It shifts remembrance from obligation to choice, creating space for intimate rituals that bring closure, not through permanence, but through the quiet act of letting go.
