Mosaico Familiare
This project consists of three woven textile panels, framed by ideas from motional design, textile storytelling, and memory preservation. Each panel merges the facial features of its members through a weaving technique I developed, to show different types of family relations:long distance family relationships (based on my own), chosen/found families (such as with friends) and generational family relations (mother and daughter).
These are detachable panels which are designed to be both wearable, as jacket linings and displayable, as wall hangings. This duality allows users to interact with the piece in both private and public ways, offering the choice between intimate connection and shared display.
The work explores how textiles can carry emotional weight, offering a sense of intimacy, connection, remembrance and identity. Weaving, both technically and conceptually, symbolizes the way relationships are formed and intertwined over time.
These pieces act as physical representations of emotional bonds, reminding us we love and are loved, encouraging reflection on how we stay connected across space, choice, and generations. In a time when relationships and family structures are increasingly complex, this work becomes a tool to hold on to emotional connections. My aim is to help people feel more connected by offering a personalised way to celebrate memory, lineage, and togetherness, visually and physically.
