Permission To Live-

Permission to Live is a critical design response to the housing crisis in London, questioning what the UK’s average salary of £34,000 can realistically afford. With a budget of £250K in South West London, this translates to 300 sq ft studio flats—spaces where every function is compromised. My project asks: if we must compromise, why not choose what not to compromise? By reimagining the flat as a sanctuary centred on the ritual of bathing, I let the ritual lead the design—creating a radical spatial intervention that prioritises dignity, wellbeing, and human need over convention in the face of extreme spatial and economic constraints.
