Big Yap Part 1
This page documents the creative journey leading up to Big Yap Part 1 (2025). I began by developing my “project reader,” a reflective piece capturing my thoughts and feelings around personal expression and key life events. From this, I created visual prints using logos and objects that symbolised those moments. This led me to explore storytelling through visual and descriptive elements, resulting in posters that featured my own handwritten font to add a personal touch.
To expand the project, I invited others to share their university experiences through short recorded clips—what I call “mini yaps.” Their approach to discussing university life was inspired by my own work as a Student Ambassador. Just as ambassador work helps prospective students navigate university, these conversations aim to support Black Goldsmiths students while also promoting the university in an authentic, peer-led way.
I designed a brand logo, visually inspired by the Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning brand, and created a casting poster. I also provided a brief to guide participants in contributing meaningfully. The final outcome is a vibrant blend of voices from friends and fellow students, capturing both light and serious moments. My work can be found on Instagram: @bigyapproductions
