Bread and Butter
Simplicity is a beautiful thing,
A piece of wood…
A loaf of bread…
A block of butter…
Eating ‘bread and butter’ is a habit in every culture across the world. Everyone has their own experience and idea of what ‘bread and butter’ is to them. We eat it so often it has become some form of ritual. You grab a slice of bread, a butter knife and a block of butter and sit in silence while you enjoy the simplicity.
But how often are we prompted to talk about, or look for information about what we are eating even with something as simple as bread and butter?
When do we talk about about the things we consume so regularly. We never think about the relationship between the tools, the food, and the person. This project aims to bring this relationship back by looking at the interaction we have with food and the objects around it.
In doing so I hope to raise awareness of the importance of real food and materials in the things we consume.
