‘We’, Hyphenated Beings
Gen is a multidisciplinary designer and performance-maker working across directing, writing, and production. Their work ‘We’ explores the concept of Hyphenated Beings— as an understanding of our sameness, rooted in in-betweenness, multiplicity, and collective resonance. Moving between sound, movement, and embodied research, Gen investigates how breath, vibration, and unseen life-forces connect across bodies, identities, and technologies.
Listening and recording is central to Gen’s process and methodology of archiving the now— the spaces and relationships that interact, that fuse moments of us together. Treating listening as a method of inquiry: relational, ethical, and attuned to internal and external layers of experience. Through performance, installation, and collaborative projects, they create environments where noise becomes a life-force, and meaning emerges not from clarity, but from shared feeling.
Hyphenated Beings is both an ongoing project and a framework for practice. Seeking to dissolve perceived separations between the human and the technological, the self and the collective by amplifying what hums beneath and between us. Gen’s work invites presence, cultivates connection, and celebrates the motion of becoming.
Can we listen to each other’s noise
And allow it not to be the same?
Can we create a rhythm
A system of togetherness?
Can we
‘we’’?
